UGH. So, as background, I work for an agency that provides low-income housing. I've worked with this particular agency in one capacity or another for a couple of years, and I thought that--at this point--I was mostly desensitized to the numerous ways that human beings can be complete douchebags (committing fraud, lying about committing fraud, continuing to lie despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, trashing units for thousands of dollars of damage, stealing all the copper wiring from the unit walls...yeah).
This morning, however, I was reminded that some 'human' beings are literally just chimpanzees walking around in pants.
Today we came into the office and found that sometime late last afternoon, one of our tenants and/or applicants had gone into the men's bathroom and urinated not in the toilet, not anywhere near or around the toilet, but on the wall facing the door. All over the wall, all over the floor, leaving very little doubt that the action was anything but deliberate. What a mature and reasoned way to make your statement, dude. You're welcome for the ten hours I day I spend working for the benefit of you and the rest of our clients...as well as the hours every day I spend worrying about my job when I'm not physically present at the office.
We think we know who's responsible, but--as usual!--have no way of proving it one way or the other. Just. UGGGGGGH. Way to prove you're a complete failure in all areas of civilized society. *shudders all over*
On to more pleasant subjects! Like the Snowflake Challenge.
I promise that I did Days 3 and 4, but I wasn't exactly going to post about either one, since both involved introducing yourself to new people. *waves at new friends* ♥
Day 5
In your own space, share something non-fannish you are passionate about with your fannish friends.
For the last nine months or so, I've been learning to make jewelry, and I love it. I started by learning wire wrapping, because I found this little owl pendant at a craft store and wanted so badly to make a necklace that suited it. Since then, I've bought probably between one and two hundred dollars' worth of tools (mostly pliers) as well as a Centaur WigJig. In the last couple months, I also bought a crimper and discovered the fabulous properties of beading wire. Mostly I've made things for friends and family (so many Christmas presents x_X ), but I admit that I've kept a few things for myself. e.e Next, I plan to buy a ring mandrel. *purring sounds*

Date: 2012-01-05 05:13 pm (UTC)On an unrelated subject, I just realized that you drew all of these, and I'm not quite sure why I didn't make that connection before, but anyway, now I have to snuggle you or something equally affectionate. *does* ♥♥♥
...Seeker nesting will never stop being funny.

Seeker nesting is that hilarious in-joke that sneaks into your headcanon and then you can't stop drawing it. At least in my case. :|

I'm not awesome.I was still learning.T_T I had just had an epiphany about how people make encased flowers. It's so hard. And then...they closed. :( I might get a hothead this summer, and work outside. But it's hard to go down a step, and Iwas super spoiled. I started working on a minor. They run pretty hot. So you can make bead quickly. They run on a propane/oxygen mix. So while they run hotter, they are also easier to explode. D: Hotheads only run on propane. It's more likely to dis-color the glass, and the run at a lot lower temp.Much, much lower. So it takes a lot of patience.

Dreamwidth hates me.:D
Sadly, I'm so proud of those beads. They are raku, which make them iridescent, and the silver dots are actual silver I melted into them.

Date: 2012-01-05 07:00 pm (UTC)The process sounds so complicated--I've never worked with glass, and the words "propane" and "explode" are a little daunting. I'd really like to learn a bit about dichroic glass, but the only class I've seen in my area runs several hundred dollars. Someday~~
